Have you ever tried to figure out what's going on in the minds of the people we work with, why some people try to or feel that it is important to tell other people what they need to hear instead of the truth. In my industry I talk to allot of people everyday and I have to help them with computer related issues and I always explain to them what is wrong and why it is wrong.
Now these are not everyday paying users, these are people who work for the same company that I do and they do not always like the answers I give them. But I do not feel I need to so call beat around the bush with them, I mean if I do not tell what is wrong then i cant get it fixed.
This is one reason that I never call any kind of tech support for help because when I call I already know what's wrong I just need the access to fix it and since the ISP will never give us that access I always have to tell them what's wrong and then they still don't fix it. But thats another issue.
So what are the people we work with thinking about all day while we are here at work. Some just show up, others like being here, more then others like me we have a family and bills and some come for computer tips and free program sites. Lets face it in jobs like these they hire you based on personality not knowledge, I mean I saw a guy on a interview here and they asked him if he ever used remote desktop before and he said NO because all his desktop's have keyboards. I was like OMG do not hire this guy but they did and now he keeps asking me questions everyday on almost every issue.
With that being said it is time to get back to work for now .
Remember thank the computer GODS for AMD and GooGle.
The world of gaming has come a log way, in yester year when I was young the biggest thing out was the Atari 2600, I remember my friends coming over everyday after school and on weekeds just to play games like E.T and tank not to mention Pitfall. But as time went on gaming started to take a new life and more and more gmaing consoles came to life.
-
Now in this day and age with the internet as powerful as it is gaming with friends has come to a new level, online gaming is a great thing and in many ways it has kept friendships between one and other alive. No more do you have to be upset or sad because your best friends dad or mom got a new job in a new town and the thought of never seeing them again sits in the back of your mind.
That will never be the problem anymore, all you need is a computer or gaming console and a internet connection, now people can game together like never before over the internet and with the ability to use sych programs like skype, team speak and ventrilo and one with a headset and a mic can talk to each other while they play. I myself have a few friends that I have met in real life and game with and a few have moved away but we still spend a few hours a night in a game on just on a vent server shooting the breeze.
I have also met other people on these servers that I consider to be friends from all over the world and to me a person who works all the time and will more then likely never be able to take my family abroad, this is a great thing to be able to talk to other people in other countries.
Now I know some one out there will say that we have email and instant messenger and webcams to keep in touch but thats not the same as it is to be able to hold a conversation with some one in real time. Alot can be said about some one just by listing to the tone of their voices.
The morale of this story is that people come and go in our lives, we meet new people everyday but the ones we truly can call a friend will always be there.
Ok so I have been sick all week and really wanted to take off of work for a day to rest up so my wife and son wouldn't catch what I have but things kept coming up and I didn't have a day I could take off until Friday. So Friday comes and I take the day off and take my son to school and then proceed to lay on the couch to kick this bug.
Nothing was on TV so I decide to see what was on demand and see what movies I could watch, I found this documentary about Wal-Mart, now this was some thing I wanted to see because one of my classes in school when I was finishing my B.A was about world culture and the main focus of the class was Wal-Mart. The movie I watch on Wal-Mart on Friday was like nothing I had seen before, just the way the company treats the community it is in and the people who live and work there was disturbing.
Since I have seen that documentary I have vowed to never shop there or Sams club which they own also ever again. I am also getting my friends and family to do the same by shopping in other stores. Even though it ay seem like this only affects small towns, in reality the affects are felt by all of us.
I set out online to find some information about people who are standing up to this company and found a few websites that I felt needed mentioning, here are some links to them and I urge anyone reading this to not just take my word for it but to look into it on your own and see how building a Wal-mart in you community will affect you and your kids.

So I applied for a new position at my job and today I found out that I didn't get it,which was really no big deal at all but what pissed me off was the cookie cutter reason why I didn't get it. I cant stand that just tell me the real reason why I didn't get the job so that i could have something to build on, not the same crap you tell everyone. I mean really out of everyone that applied I have the best resume and I am not bragging about it but I have more experience then most of the people I work with in mu field plus I have two degrees, one which happens to be in internet security and yet I didn't get it.
I don't get it what is this world coming to when your education is worth the paper it is written on, to top it off I was extremely sick the day of my interview but I worked the whole day anyway. I mean it I didn't care I wanted to show how dedicated I was that I was dope up on meds and wiping snot, now you might say well thats not the best way to interview. What you don't know is that the people interviewing me work with me everyday , they already know everything about me so what would be the big deal I mean they already new I was sick before I got there.
Not to mention some of the scenarios I was given made no sense what so ever, but thats what happens when you work with people who pretty much fix the same problems everyday and then they act like they know how to really fix real pc issues. But I held my head up high and went back to work like it was no big deal because I knew that I was going to stick to my guns and have a back plan.
I told my wife and family that if I didn't get this position then there was no real reason for me to stay there because in my eyes I am selling myself short. So now my mission is to start looking at the different offers I get daily and I really mean i get them and have turned them down daily ( thanks to Monster.com). On top of that I am starting my own business on the side.
The only good thing about my current position is that it is almost second nature to me now and no one really bothers me, it also allows me the time I need to work on my side jobs like the pc repairs and websites I tweak. It is also allowing me time to setting up the security seminars that I have been planning, which in its self is a great thing.
I know one thing for sure the day I decide to turn in my two week notice is the day they will all ask the same question. WHY?
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to work in a stress free environment, where everyone got a long you were actually happy to work there. You know the kind of place that made you happy to wake up in the morning, kiss your family goodbye and then get into your car and drive to work in heavy traffic and bad weather.
Yeah I guess we all have that dream and maybe for some of us it will come true but for the rest of us it may never happen. No not for us because that’s not how we operate, I mean why should I like coming to work everyday and using my gas and with the way prices are now that’s no to cheap in anyway. Plus I have to deal with users and their rude behavior when in reality I am here trying to help them out with their problems.
So how could we or do we make a stress free work environment, well I do not know I have yet to find it, people are the way they are and most of them will never change. One way I cope with it is I leave it at work, yes that’s right I leave my personal problems if I have any at the time at home and I always leave my work stress at work. Never bring home the work stress it is not fair to your family or the people around you. Once you walk out those doors at then end of your day forget what ever happened and start a new home life day.
That’s all for now .
